Elsie M. Petrack

Elsie M. Petrack, 87, of Mohawk Trail, Slippery Rock, Slippery Rock Township, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Grove City Medical Center.

Born May 15, 1922, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Frank Bittner and Veronica Bittner.

She married Joseph Petrack on Aug. 3, 1947. He died Feb. 2, 1983.

During World War II, she was an A-1 welder at the Dravo shipyards for the war effort. After raising her children, she worked at and retired from the H.J. Heinz Co. in Pittsburgh, where she helped to prepare soup.

Elsie was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Slippery Rock.

Surviving are a daughter, Joel Mikita and her husband, John, of Lexington, N.C.; two sons, Tony Petrack and his wife, Eileen, of Lexington, N.C., and Wayne Petrack and his former wife, Dianne, of Stoneboro; and a sister, Sister M. Florcita of Millvale. Five grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and a sister.

<B>PETRACK</B> — There will be no calling hours for Elsie Petrack, who died Saturday, July 4, 2009.
