Today — Police reported they charged Thomas E. Schmeider, 57, of Butler with drugged driving after officers found him about 9:05 p.m. July 10 slumped over the wheel over a car in the parking lot of a convenience store at Pillow Street and Second Avenue.Police said results of toxicology tests showed Schmeider's blood when he was found contained methadone and the prescription drug alprazolam, a narcotic used to treat anxiety,In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Schmeider is charged with careless driving.10:55 a.m. Saturday — Two people were hurt when a car driven by Geralyn Phillips, 26, of Butler rear-ended another car on Hansen Avenue. A 5-year-old girl riding in Phillips' car and Karen Kennedy, 45, of Butler, a passenger in the other vehicle, suffered minor injuries.Phillips was cited for careless driving and driving without insurance, police said. Nicole Kennedy, 23, of Butler Township was driving the other car.3:34 p.m. Tuesday — Three Butler women are accused of teaming up to allegedly shoplift cosmetics and clothing items from the Kmart store in Pullman Square. Police said the suspects placed the merchandise, totaling $172.91, into their purses and tried to leave without paying for the items.Charged with retail theft and conspiracy are Tressa Lee Kirkwood, 21; Tiffany Divins, 24; and Tashina Booher, 25.

Sunday — Police reported they are investigating the suspected sexual assault of a 23-year-old woman on Slate Road in Eau Claire last week.The woman, who was treated at Clarion Hospital, told authorities she was raped between 11 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday. Two men are suspects in the case; however, only one of the suspects, who is 24 years old, is known.Police did not release any other details about the investigation.3:43 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Samantha E. McCoy, 17, of Portersville struck the rear of another car at Route 488 and Stanford Road in Portersville. Police said McCoy was cited for driving at an unsafe speed. Christa L. Mayer, 26, of Mercer was driving the other car.11:30 p.m. Friday — A fire to a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta was discovered at a West Main Street home in Eau Claire. Police are investigating the fire that started between 8:30 and 11:30 p.m.9:51 p.m. Friday — Kenneth Charles Albert, 53, of Portersville was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 422 at Roxy's Diner in Prospect.3:18 p.m. Friday — Cars driven by David J. Martin, 18, of Harwick, Allegheny County, and Terry W. Hohmann, 53, of Slippery Rock collided on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township.6:15 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Lori R. Ritzert, 43, of Karns City struck a tree along Willow Road in Fairview Township. Ritzert suffered a minor injury.12:44 a.m. Friday — Sandra Sue Flick, 27, of Chicora is accused of assaulting 28-year-old Nathan Paul Flick of Chicora during a domestic dispute at a Chicora Road home in Donegal Township. Police said Sandra Flick faces charges of simple assault and harassment.12:03 a.m. Friday — Adrienne Beachem, 45, of West Sunbury and a 17-year-old West Sunbury boy are accused in connection with a fight at a Hooker Road home in Clay Township.The fight, police said, began with an altercation between Beachem and Tomika Cottrill, 27, of West Sunbury. The boy stepped in and tried to pull Beachem off Cottrill, according to a police report, and then allegedly assaulted Beachem.Beachem was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bond. The boy, who police did not identity, also faces a charge of simple assault.11:50 p.m. Thursday — A maroon Mitsubishi Eclipse struck a light pole on Route 173 near East Cooper Street in Slippery Rock. The driver then turned around and drove away south on Route 173.7:22 p.m. Thursday — Three people were hurt when a pickup truck driven by Frederic W. Betts, 36, of New Castle and a car driven by Thomas Morrow, 52, of Arcadia, Ind., collided on Route 422 in Franklin Township.Betts and Mary Morrow, 47, also of Arcadia, a passenger in the car, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. Police said Betts was cited for making an illegal left turn.Thursday — Police filed several charges against Cody Lee Reynolds, 23, no known address and Brittany Dawn Williams, 18, of Butler, for allegedly forging three checks owned by a Jefferson Township woman, and last week cashing the checks for $800.Both suspects were arraigned on charges of forgery, conspiracy and theft by deception. Reynolds also is charged with theft by unlawful taking, and hindering apprehension and prosecution; Williams also is charged with receiving stolen property.Following arraignment on charges, the defendants were placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail each.7 a.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Michele R. Hill, 25, of New Castle struck the rear of another car on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township. Police said Hill was cited for following too closely to another vehicle. Stephen W. Butler Jr., 26, of Greenville, Mercer County, was driving the other car.Wednesday — Nearly $2,000 in gold rings and necklaces were stolen in a burglary between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at an Oneida Valley Road home in Washington Township. Police said the break-in was made through a kitchen window.Wednesday — A burglar stole several items including jewelry between 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. after breaking into a West Eldorado home in Washington Township.July 20 — Two Craftsman wrench sets and a Craftsman socket set were stolen in a burglary between July 17 and 20 at a Donaldson Road home in Donegal Township.5:45 p.m. July 8 — Shane Jacob Summerville, 21, of Butler was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after suffering a suspected overdose of Fentanyl at a Cooper Road home in Winfield Township.

6:59 p.m. Saturday — James Stanley Chop, 51, of Monaca, Beaver County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. Police noted Chop was driving with a suspended license stemming from a previous DUI arrest.11:20 p.m. Friday — Rocks thrown from an overpass struck the windshield of an upstate New York man's vehicle traveling on Interstate 79 in Springfield Township. No injuries were reported.Thursday — A gray mountain bike valued at $200 was stolen between 4:45 and 5:40 p.m. from the back of a Cochranton man's pickup truck at the Eat 'n Park restaurant on Leechburg-Grove City Road in Springfield Township. The stolen bike is a men's 26-inch Diamondback model.

Saturday — Four handguns were stolen in a burglary between July 20 and Saturday at a Frew Mill Road home in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.Stolen, police said, were two .22-caliber Ruger revolvers, a .357-caliber Ruger revolver and a .22-caliber Unique pistol. Also taken was $30. The total value of the stolen property is $1,080.
