Wednesday — Police charged an Armstrong County man for allegedly stealing property at the Battery Warehouse on West Cunningham Street, while he was still employed there.Justin Johnson, 26, of Ford Cliff is accused of taking a spool of battery wire valued at $154. Two Butler men happened to see a man, matching Johnson's description, stealing the property from a fenced-in area at the store Saturday afternoon.Police spoke to the defendant, who denied taking anything; nevertheless, he was fired, according to a police report. Both witnesses later were shown a police photo lineup and identified Johnson as the suspected thief they saw Saturday.Johnson, who is charged with theft and trespass, faces a preliminary hearing Aug. 17.Wednesday — Police filed a bad check charge against Ruth R. Rummell, 34, of Patton, Cambria County, who is accused of bouncing a check May 21 at the Cycle Warehouse on South Main Street. The check for $286.12 was written on an account with insufficient funds, police said.

Monday — Police arrested Jessica Lynne Holley, 22, of Butler for allegedly selling a police informant 10 stamp bags of heroin March 31 at a New Castle Street home.Holley is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

July 12 — Unspecified prescription medication was stolen in a burglary at a home at Mount Furnace and Eckert Bridge roads in Slippery Rock Township. Police said the home was unlocked at the time of the burglary between noon and 4 p.m.
