Southern Mercer County voters select candidates
Southern Mercer County voters made their selections in Tuesday's primary for leaders of two townships and a school district.
Liberty TownshipIn Liberty Township, Robert Pebbles will appear on the fall ballot as the Republican nominee for a 6-year supervisor seat after getting 83 votes in Tuesday's election, followed by David Beatty with 75, Charles Larish with 28 and Daniel Lindey with 20 votes.Anthony DePaoli will appear on the Democratic ballot for the seat and ran unopposed in the primary.
Pine TownshipIn Pine Township, Mercer County, George Elliott will appear on the Republican ballot for a supervisor seat with 456 votes, while John Boyd came in with 65 votes.There was not a Democratic race.
Grove City SchoolsThere were four, 4-year seats open on the board. The winners in the Republican primary were Scott Somora with 943 votes, followed by Leonard Clarke, 928; William Reznor, 906; and William Norris, 711. Robert Montgomery was unopposed for the Republican nomination for a two-year seat.The Democratic primary winners for the four-year seats were Somora with 372 votes, followed by Reznor, 357; Clarke, 337; and Norris, 291.
