Ryan Beilstein of Slippery Rock was named an Outstanding Senior by the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Slippery Rock University.Beilstein was recommended for the award by Anna Lusher, assistant chair of the school of business at Slippery Rock, for his success in the classroom and potential for a promising career in accounting.The award is given to one senior accounting major at each of the 80 participating Pennsylvania colleges and universities. Recipients are given a certificate and medal, and have their names engraved on a plaque displayed at their alma mater.———
Local Westminster College students participated in the 37th annual Western Pennsylvania Undergraduate Psychology Conference on April 25 at Robert Morris University.<B>Matthew Facciani</B> of Cranberry Township and <B>Cassandra Treshok</B> of Sarver presented posters of the experiments they conducted in a research design and statistics class.Facciani, a sophomore psychology major, presented "A Modified Replication of the Asch Study: How Social Influence Contributes to Conformity," a study that tested the effects of social influence and task complexity on conformity. He is a son of Patrick and Joanne Facciani of Cranberry Township and a graduate of Seneca Valley High School.Treshok, a sophomore psychology and human resources major, presented "Effects of Education on Environmental Awareness and Attitudes in First-Year College Women," a study of how knowledge of environmental issues changes attitudes about them. She is a daughter of Anthony and Karen Treshok of Sarver and a graduate of Freeport High School.———
<B>Ryan Williams</B>, a senior at Penn State Erie, the Behrend College, was awarded the Outstanding Tutor Award for his contribution to the tutoring program in engineering.He was chosen because of his scholarship and service to students.Williams is the son of Douglas and Christine Williams of Chicora.———
<B>Emily Campbell</B> was awarded honorable mention at the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair held April 3 at the Carnegie Science Center.Her project was titled "Which Whitens Best?"Campbell is a student at Slippery Rock Middle School and the daughter of Todd and Rebecca Campbell of Slippery Rock.———
