Margaret and Philip Schmitt

Philip and Margaret Schmitt of Cranberry Township celebrated 50 years of marriage April 26 with a family dinner at Treesdale Country Club. In June, they will take a trip with their family to Aruba.

Schmitt married the former Margaret Lewis on April 25, 1959, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Pittsburgh. The groom's uncle, the Rev. Norman Herman officiated.

They have five children, Jeffrey Schmitt of Gibsonia, Lisa Kenny of Meadville, Mark Schmitt of Kingston, Wash.; Brian Schmitt of Hampton, Va., and Scott Schmitt of Fayetteville, Ga.They also have 14 grandchildren.Schmitt is retired from working for 30 years for UPS. His wife is a homemaker.The Schmitts belong to St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Cranberry Township.
