Donald "Tops" and Mary Shakley

Donald "Tops" and Mary Shakley of Chicora will celebrate 50 years of marriage with an open house hosted by their family May 2 at Karns City United Methodist Church.

Shakley married the former Mary Snyder April 25, 1959, at Petrolia Presbyterian Church.

They have two children, Donald Shakley of Ashburn, Va., and Lori Shakley of Chicora.

They also have five grandchildren.

Shakley is retired after working for 42 years at Witco Chemical Corporation. He enjoys bowling, yard work and cooking.Mrs. Shakley worked at Mellon Bank in Chicora then worked as manager of Penacol Federal Credit Union in Petrolia. She enjoys reading, playing the piano and doing puzzles.The couple belongs to Karns City United Methodist Church.
