5:05 p.m. Tuesday Jason T. Sherman, 30, of Butler faces drug-related charges after he was found "sleeping in a sitting position" on a sidewalk near East Brady and North McKean streets, according to a police report.He appeared to be under the influence and was taken to the station. Police said a search turned up a used syringe and spoon, and one pill of the anti-anxiety drug Xanax.Police said Sherman is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness.

6:42 p.m. Thursday A pickup truck driven by Brenton Gerstner, 23, of Butler crashed into a traffic sign and a curb along Route 8 near the Days Inn.Thursday A vehicle driven by Debra Zielinski, 51, of Butler and a vehicle driven by Shawn Peters, 21, of Butler collided on New Castle Road near the Eat 'n Park restaurant. Police said Zielinski was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.8:04 p.m. Wednesday Thomas Forrisi, 46, of Evans City was charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Route 68. Police said he also was cited for careless driving, an open container violation, not wearing a seat belt and not notifying authorities of a change of address.

Friday Police reported that an unknown thief stole a 3-hp motor from an oil well on Black Road in Donegal Township. It was not known when the motor, owned by Jack Zavilla of Chicora, was stolen.8:35 p.m. Wednesday Cars driven by Susan M. Rogerson, 21, of Butler and Michael L. Montgomery, 63, of Slippery Rock collided on Route 8 at the Clearview Mall in Center Township. Montgomery suffered a minor injury.
