Sunday — An unknown would-be thief broke the steering column of a Plymouth Fiero in an attempt to force the ignition to turn and steal the car parked on Greenview Drive. The attempted theft occurred between 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 10:50 a.m. Sunday. Thomas Bowser Jr. of Saxonburg owns the car.8:33 p.m. Saturday — Gary Monahan, 45, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Hansen Avenue. Police said Monahan also was cited for driving with an expired registration.4:14 a.m. Saturday — Scott Michael Connors, 22, of Butler was arrested for DUI on College Street. Police said Connors also was cited for not using turn signals.2:25 a.m. Saturday — Ryan D. Laidlaw, 32, of Butler Township was arrested for DUI on Pillow Street. Police said Laidlaw also was cited for not obeying a traffic control device.1:56 a.m. Saturday — Fred Randy Blumling, 34, of Butler Township was arrested for DUI at West North and North Chestnut streets. Police said Blumling also was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and a flashing red light violation.Blumling was placed in the Butler County Prison on a bench warrant, according to a police report.1:28 a.m. Saturday — Heather J. Staiger, 27, of Butler was arrested for DUI on South Main Street. Police said Staiger also was cited for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.Saturday — Norma Cirillo reported that someone overnight flattened all four tires of a vehicle at her Fairview Avenue home.State Police, Butler1:15 p.m. Sunday — An unknown man stole jewelry from a Cornish Drive home in Slippery Rock. The thief is described as white, in his early to mid-20s, weighing from 120 to 140 pounds with brown hair. The suspect was wearing blue jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt and a blue ball cap.1:27 a.m. Sunday — An unknown hit-and-run driver crashed a car at Route 38 and Ball Lane on Concord Township. The car rolled onto its roof and the driver fled the scene. A police report noted David Ryan of Pittsburgh owns the car.10:44 p.m. Saturday — Tina Marie Davies, 23, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her car collided with another car at Bonniebrook and Great Belt roads in Jefferson Township. John Wogan Jr., 27, of Pittsburgh was driving the other car.3:25 a.m. Saturday — The driver of a 1996 Ford Taurus crashed into a utility pole along State Street in Saxonburg, and fled the scene, apparently leaving the car behind.2:56 a.m. Saturday — Nathan Kasprzyk, 21, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Route 173 and Stoughton Road in Slippery Rock Township.2:25 a.m. Saturday — Shannon Lee Moore, 33, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Route 68 and Hemphill Lane in Donegal Township.2 a.m. Saturday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Clayton H. Holbein, 20, of Sarver crashed into an embankment and rolled onto its side on Route 228 near Leasureville Road in Winfield Township. Police said Holbein was cited for a lane violation.9:30 p.m. Friday — Joe Harris, 54, of Buffalo, N.Y., was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township. Police said Harris was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following his arrest.11:55 a.m. Thursday — Tracy A. Yeager, 35, of Prospect was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Unionville and Brown roads in Center Township.5:39 p.m. Feb. 21 — An SUV driven by William R. Slagle, 39, of Butler crashed and rolled onto its roof on Fisher Road near Janice Lane in Jefferson Township. Police said Slagle faces a ticket for a lane violation.State Police, Mercer5:40 p.m. Friday — Two Emlenton residents were hurt when their car crashed into an embankment and rolled over, landing on its wheels, on Interstate 80 in Findley Township. Jennifer Lowrey, 37, the driver, and 5-year-old Max Lowery, a passenger, suffered minor injuries.Feb. 16 — A mailbox was damaged, possibly by a bullet, at the home of Stasie Wanner on Indian Run Road in Springfield Township. The vandalism occurred between Feb. 13 and 16.
6:32 a.m. Wednesday — A minivan driven by Joel C. Wingert, 69, of New Castle and a pickup truck driven by Dudley A. Coss, 51, of Grove City collided at Routes 208 in Washington Township. Police said Wingert was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
11:30 p.m. Saturday — Cory Roenigk, 38, of Cabot was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 28 in Buffalo Township, Butler County.4:17 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Justin A. Hileman, 21, of Kittanning and a sport utility vehicle driven by Shirley R. Doverspike, 71, of Templeton collided on Route 268 in East Franklin Township.Doverspike and a passenger in her vehicle, Sally A. Felton, 74, of Kittanning, both suffered minor injuries; both women were wearing seat belts. Police said Hileman was cited for a lane violation.
