Charles W. Skiles, 61, formerly of Mars, died Wednesday at his home in Clayton, N.C.

Born April 26, 1947, in Sarver, he was the son of the late Wilbur "Lonz" and Ethelwyn Skiles.

He graduated from Freeport High School in 1965 and was a lifelong employee of U.S. Airways until his 2001 retirement.

Charley is survived by his wife, Vicki; and his two daughters, Jill (Wayne) McClendon and her son and daughter, and Jennifer (Chris) Mitchell and her daughter. Both daughters graduated from Mars High School and live in Clayton.

Also surviving are two brothers, Bill of Cabot and Dave and his wife, Kathy, of Olive Branch, Miss.; and a sister, Lavada Straughn and her husband, Larry, of Oil City.
