Mary Hulton Phillips, 88, of Belmont Road died at 8:45 p.m. Monday at her home.

Born Sept. 22, 1920, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Harry Garfield Hulton and the late Bess Moore Hulton.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of the North Street Christian Church and is known for her extensive volunteer work in the Butler community.

Her legacy to the community is the founding of the Maridon Museum, which proudly combines both her husband's name and her name.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and by two sisters-in-law.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Donald C. Phillips, who died Oct. 10, 1994, and by four brothers and two sisters.

<B>PHILLIPS</B> — Friends of Mary Hulton Phillips, who died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the North Street Christian Church with Pastor Robert Huber of North Street Christian Church and Pastor Donald Jeanes, a nephew by marriage and president of Milligan College, officiating. Interment will follow in North Side Cemetery.It is requested memorial donations be made to the Maridon Museum, 132 N.
