Emma R. Stubbs
Mrs. Emma R. Stubbs, 76, of Youngstown, Ohio, departed this life Monday at her home.
Mrs. Stubbs was born Sept. 23, 1932, in Butler, a daughter of William and Mary A. Wynn Jackson.
She retired from the Youngstown City School System in 1990.
She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and was a vacation Bible school teacher. She also was a member of the PTA, the South High Warrior Boosters Club and was given the key to Youngstown from Mayor Patrick Ungaro in 1990. She also was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Her husband, James L. Stubbs, who she married April 21, 1957, died July 17, 1982.
She is survived by her children, Warren (Helen) Mitchell of Butler, John C. Stubbs, Mary A. Stubbs, Chantay L. Stubbs and Jemma T. Stubbs, all of Youngstown, and Delmas E. Stubbs of Kileen, Texas; stepdaughters, Sharlie Stevens of Boardman, Ohio, and Denise Mitchell of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; siblings, William (Jay) Jackson and Elizabeth A. Mays, both of Butler; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Priscilla V. Allen; brothers, Joseph and Herman Smallwood and John Wynn; granddaughter, Shalae L. Stubbs; and great-grandson, Reginald Hough.
<B>STUBBS</B> — Viewing for Emma R. Stubbs, who died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, will be from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday at the <B>mason funeral home</B>, 511 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown. Friends also may call from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at the New Bethel Baptist Church, Youngstown, where a funeral service will follow at noon.
