Rodger A. Hathaway, 73, of Butler died Friday as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born Feb. 5, 1935, in Stowe Township, the son of the late Karl Hathaway and the late Georgena Campbell Hathaway.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of the Chalcedony Masonic Lodge 6 and a life member of the Demolay Legion of Honor and the Elks 170, all in Arizona; the American Legion 778 in Lyndora and the Syria Shriners.

He was inducted into the Butler Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. He attended Thiel College.He had worked as a store manager for the J.C. Penney Co.Surviving are a daughter, Christy Jo Harshfield of San Francisco, Calif.; a son, Robert A. Hathaway of Darien, Conn.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia White of Norman, Okla.He was preceded in death by his parents.

<B>HATHAWAY</B> — A memorial service for Rodger A. Hathaway, who died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at American Legion Post 778, 150 Legion Memorial Lane in Lyndora. A lunch will follow.Contributions may be made to the American Legion 778, 150 Legion Memorial Lane, Butler PA 16001.Arrangements are by the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, Butler, and information also is available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
