Skyzinski

Mary B. Skyzinski, 83, of Freeport passed away at 2:25 a.m. Tuesday while in the company of family members at the Kittanning Care Center.

Mary was born in Springdale, March 31, 1925, the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Bliznak.

She had lived in Leechburg for most of her young life before she was married and moved to Freeport.

She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Freeport. Mary also regularly attended Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Natrona Heights and St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot.

She was a waitress and a hostess for 50 years. She worked for the Brackenridge Heights Country Club for 25 years and then went to work for the Oakmont Country Club for another 25 years. She retired in 2003.

Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and being with her family.

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Helen A. (Robert) Lewandowski of Polish Hill, Pittsburgh, and Mary M. Skyzinski of Freeport; two sons, Leonard E. (Kim) Skyzinski, Jr. of Cabot and Richard J. (Susan) Skyzinski of Orlando, Fla.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard E. Skyzinski Sr.; a sister, Anne Zelonka; and a stepbrother, George Szaklay.

A parting prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, with Father Edward Volz officiating.
