Albert B. McCrea, 92, of South Buffalo Township passed away peacefully at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home, surrounded by his family.

Albert was born April 29, 1916, in Saxonburg, the son of the late Albert R. and Vallie Mae (Bauer) McCrea.

He was a member of the Freeport United Presbyterian Church.

He graduated from Winfield Township High School in 1935 and attended Carnegie Technical Institute.

Albert worked as a tool maker at Hetrick Manufacturing in Lower Burrell for 45 years and retired in 1982. He worked for various tool and die shops in the Butler area as well.

Albert was a past elder of the Freeport United Presbyterian and Buffalo Presbyterian churches. He was a member and a past secretary of the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Department. He was a coach for years in the Saxonburg Little League Association.

Albert enjoyed hunting, golfing and spending time with all his grandchildren.

Albert is survived by his wife of 33 years, Anna Catherine (Reedy) McCrea; two daughters, Marcia (LaVerne) Harbison of Freeport and Judi (Stanley) Berdell of Kittanning; and two sons, Allen E. (Nancy) McCrea of South Buffalo Township and David L. (Laraine) McCrea of Buffalo Township.

Albert also is survived by his nine grandchildren, Lori Harbison-Weigold of Freeport, Scott (Lisa) McCrea of South Buffalo Township, Chris (Cindy) McCrea of South Buffalo Township, Kevin (Kim) Harbison of South Buffalo Township, Bryan (Emily) Harbison of Janesville, Wis., Emily Berdell of Lower Burrell, Lindsay Berdell of Cheswick, Matt McCrea of South Buffalo Township and Sara McCrea of Natrona Heights; and 10 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Adam, Ryan and Eric Weigold of Freeport, Nathan and Evan McCrea of South Buffalo Township, Abigail Harbison of South Buffalo Township, Tayler and Alex Harbison of Janesville, Wis., and Aaron McCrea of South Buffalo Township.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Olive (Beale) McCrea, who passed in 1972; four brothers; Harold, James, Russell and George McCrea; and his sister, Kathleen McCrea Overholt.

McCrea, who died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Redmond Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 524 High St., Freeport. Visitation also will be held from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Freeport United Presbyterian Church. The Rev. William Mumaw will officiate.
