Norma J. Espy

Norma J. Espy, 81, of Butler died Sunday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Dec. 20, 1927, in Butler, she was the daughter of Roy L. and Bertha Stoops Myers.

She was a member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church.

A homemaker, she was a 1945 graduate of Butler High School.

She was formerly a bookkeeper for Ferguson's Grocery and Wholesaler. She also assisted her father in the operation of the Myers Cleaner Co.

She and her husband raised horses and goats on their farm, and she sold goat's milk and made goat's milk fudge. She also owned and operated Espy Mobile Home Court, and she had a silk flower business.

She also was a seamstress.

She dearly loved her family of cats, and she was a supporter of stray cats at the Butler County Humane Society.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Vera Nebel of Longmeadow, Mass., Mrs. Lois M. Panei of Butler, and Mrs. Eugene (Bonita) Gomori of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold O. Espy, who died Sept. 3, 1983; two brothers, Kenneth M. Myers and Donald R. Myers; and two sisters, Virginia Scarpitti and Edith Guenter.

<B>ESPY</B>— Friends of Norma J. Espy, who died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, will be received from noon until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler. Services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Butler County Humane Society.Information is available at www.martinfh.net.
