Helen Mae Stewart
Helen Mae Stewart, 85, of Sugarcreek Rest, Worthington, formerly of Fairview in Butler County, passed away at 10:36 a.m. Friday at Sugarcreek Rest after an illness.
She was born in Conneration, Clarion County, July 10, 1923, and was a daughter of the late Russel Karnes and Maude Peters Karnes.
She was affiliated with the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Freeport Road, Butler.
A homemaker, she married Robert Glenn Stewart Sr. on Oct. 27, 1949, in St. Petersburg, Pa. He preceded her in death July 18, 2002.
Surviving are a son, Robert Glenn Stewart Jr. and his wife, Sheila, of Chicora; a foster daughter, Sandy Tarr Sybert and her husband, Michael, of Chicora; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Fair of New Kensington; two sisters, Stella Buzard of Butler and Rose Cochran of Tarentum; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Mae Stalker on Dec. 9, 1975; a brother, Ronald Fair; and four sisters, Catherine Custer, Louella Kreibel, Martha Reed and 20-month-old Mary Fair.
<B>STEWART</B> — Friends of Helen Mae Stewart, who died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home</B> in Petrolia. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. David M. Walters, chaplain of Sugarcreek Rest, officiating. Interment will be in Concord Presbyterian Cemetery, Clarion County.
