Leslie A. 'Les' Andre
Leslie A. "Les" Andre, 83, of Slippery Rock died Monday at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie.
He was born April 26, 1925, in Chicora, the son of the late Earl Andre and the late Carrie Lewis Andre.
He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church in Chicora.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II in military intelligence service. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He had worked for Castle Rubber, Ray Andre Tire of Butler, Town & Country Cleaners and as a maintenance repairman in Butler, Mercer and Allegheny counties.
He spent many years playing sports and gardening.
Surviving are three daughters, Jillian Double of Harrisville, Valerie Grandy of Mercer and Vickie Beachem of Clay Township; a son, Jack Andre of Slippery Rock; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Andre of Chicora and Harold "Dutch" Andre of Center Township; and a number of nieces and nephews.
His wife, Betty (Domney) Andre, whom he married Feb. 10, 1945, died Jan. 6, 2007. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
