Mary Katrych
Mary Fecich Katrych, 94, formerly of Eighth Avenue, died peacefully Sunday at home in Seven Fields.
Born April 28, 1914, in Butler, she was the daughter of Wasyl and Sophia Lazorchak Fecich.
She married John Katrych Oct. 10, 1936. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1965.
She worked for Montgomery Ward for many years as manager of the children's department.
Prior to moving to Tewksbury, Mass., in 1979, she was an active member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora. She was a founding member and served as the first treasurer of the Ladies Guild. She was also an original Pirohi worker and helped the Junior Ukrainian Orthodox League in bake sales of paschas and nutrolls.
In January of 2000, she returned to Pennsylvania with her daughter and lived in Seven Fields. She was a member of St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral in Allison Park.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Katrych of Seven Fields; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Anne Fecich, Mrs. Olga Katrych, and Mrs. Sue Katrych; and several nieces and nephews who will remember their "Aunt Mamie" with fondness.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Peter, Michael, Steve and Harry Fecich.
<B>KATRYCH</B> — Friends of Mary Fecich Katrych, who died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora. The Very Rev. Paul Suda, pastor of St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral in Allison Park, and Father George Hnatko of the Eastern Orthodox Foundation will officiate.Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.Paratas services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral Building Fund, 1600 Guyton Road, Allison Park, PA 15101; or to SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 21 Evergreen Drive, Lyndora, PA 16045.
