Dorothy Baker

Dorothy Baker, 79, formerly of Moffat Street, Dunkirk, N.Y., died Wednesday at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk.

Born July 22, 1929, in Butler, she was the daughter of John Henry and Hazel Rugh Kennedy.

A resident of Dunkirk for the past 54 years, Mrs. Baker was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, polka music and was an avid reader, especially of the Bible.

Mrs. Baker was a member of the Dunkirk First United Methodist Church and the Sheridan Happy Seniors.

Surviving are three daughters, Wanda (Keith) Spinler of Conewongo Valley, N.Y., Lucinda Simpson of Dunkirk and Carroll (Daniel) Nalepa of Cassadaga, N.Y.; a son, Kenneth (Ellen) Baker of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Timothy (Dayna) Smith, Brenda (Lori) Dean, Matthew Spinler, Vanessa Spinler, Elizabeth Baker, Christopher Simpson, Linda Simpson, Jonathan Simpson and Michael Baker; two great-grandchildren, Jessica Dean and Aurora Smith; two brothers, Edward (Joy) Kennedy of Santa Yabel, Calif., and Raymond Kennedy of Grove City; and nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Baker, who died Feb. 1, 2005; a son, William E. Baker, who died Jan. 11, 2001; and several brothers and sisters.

<B>BAKER</B> — Funeral services for Dorothy Baker, who died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Newman funeral home</B>, 201 S. Zebra St., corner of Second Street, Dunkirk, N.Y. The Rev. Amy Fitzgerald will officiate.Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Willowbrook Park Cemetery.
