Richard 'Dick' Bowser

Richard C. "Dick" Bowser, 79, of Parker died Thursday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 9, 1929, in Perryville, Perry Township, a son of the late Jack C. and Elizabeth Arendt Bowser.

A 1947 graduate of Bruin High School, Mr. Bowser was an outstanding basketball player.

He worked for the Koppers Chemical Co. in Petrolia until his retirement after 42 years on Dec. 31, 1999. He was a longtime employee and ambulance driver for the former Fred S. Bowser FuneralHome in Parker.

Mr. Bowser was a member of the West Freedom United Methodist Church, the Parker City Allegheny Valley Lodge 521 F&AM, and the Scottish Rite Consistory Valley of New Castle. He was a lifetime member of the Penacol Association Club of Indspec Chemical Corp.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, bus trips, hunting, fishing, yard work, gardening and sitting on the front porch watching for wildlife.

Mr. Bowser is survived by his wife, L. Louise Carmichael Bowser, who he married on Nov. 11, 1950; three daughters, Diane Winder and her husband, Matt, of Oil City, Karen Tronzo and her companion, "Bim" Slater, of Parker, and Marie Travaglio and her husband, Kevin, of Hilliards; three grandchildren, Nathan Michael, and Afton and Carly Tronzo, all of Parker; and a nephew, Andy Bowser of Texas.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Raymond L. Bowser, who died in 1987, and Keith Bowser, who died in 2006.

<B>BOWSER — </B>Friends of Richard C. "Dick" Bowser, who died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the<B> H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME</B>, Wayne Street, Parker. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev.
