9:09 p.m. Tuesday — Ethan P. Brinks, 19, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and his mother at his Boyd Avenue home.The defendant's mother, Diane Brinks, told police that her son recently lost his job and was drinking whiskey. Later, according to court documents, Brinks punched his girlfriend, Ashley Moore, in the right shoulder.The defendant also is accused of slamming his mother against a bedroom door and grabbing her by the throat and choking her, police said.Brinks was arraigned on two counts each of simple assault and harassment as well as underage drinking, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bond.5:09 p.m. Monday — An unknown white woman, between 20 and 25 years old, passed a counterfeit $100 bill at a Bon Aire hair salon. The same woman soon after tried to pass a second bogus $100 bill at nearby business.Police said the second attempt failed when employees detected the fake bill using a counterfeit detector pen.The suspect is described as 5 feet tall and 100 pounds, with blonde hair and bangs. She wore a cream-colored knit cap with a brim and a light-colored coat, and she carried a knit purse with horizontal orange, red and yellow striping.Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.9:43 p.m. Sunday — Joseph Bailie IV, 31, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Whitestown and Duffy roads. Police said Bailie also faces charges for driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance, and driving on the wrong side of the road.

2 a.m. Monday — A car driven by Shanda Renick, 37, of Butler crashed into a tree along Route 422 in Summit Township. Police said Renick was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
