Bastin 50th anniversary
August "Augie" and Phyllis Bastin of Saxonburg will celebrate 50 years of marriage with a Mass at 5 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot, followed by a family dinner at The Field House. An open house in their honor will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Saxonburg Fire Hall. They request that no gifts be given.
Bastin married the former Phyllis Thoma on Jan. 20, 1959 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.
They have three children, Jeffrey Bastin of Cabot, Gary Bastin of Greensburg and Michael Bastin of Cabot.
They also have seven grandchildren and two step-granddaughters.Bastin is retired from self-employment with Bastin Plumbing and Heating in Saxonburg. He belongs to the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company, the Saxonburg V.F.W., the American Legion and the Roman Catholic Men's Club.Mrs. Bastin is retired from working as the secretary and bookkeeper for the Thoma Meat Market in Saxonburg. She belongs to the St. Joseph Christian Mothers and the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoys SilverSneakers and baby-sitting her grandchildren.The Bastins are members of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.
