Richard F. "Dick" Skillman, 84, of East Butler died Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Butler, a son of the late Fred Skillman and the late Millie Eichenlaub Skillman Kepp.

Dick retired as a corporal with the Pennsylvania State Police in 1984 following 38 years of service. He worked as the aviation investigator out of Troop D in Butler. One of the crashes he investigated was that of the still missing B-25 bomber in the Ohio River in Pittsburgh. Following his retirement, he was employed at United Plate Glass in Butler and the Mon Valley Travel Agency.

Mr. Skillman was a member and past president of the Butler County Law Enforcement Association and the Fraternal Order of Police. He also was a member of the International Association for Identification, Pennsylvania division, and the Retired Troopers Association of Indiana, Pa. He also belonged to the Quite Birmen or Q.B.

Dick was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler and was an usher there. He also was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 866 in Butler and the Kiwanis Club in Butler.

He was veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

His wife, Corrine Geibel Skillman, who he married Aug. 8, 1964, survives. Also surviving are his sister, Loretta Graham of Butler, and several nieces and nephews.

His sister, Burnice Skillman Truscott, and his brother, Robert Skillman, preceded him in death.

<B>SKILLMAN </B>— Friends of Richard F. "Dick" Skillman, who died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler with the Rev. Harry Bielewicz, pastor, officiating. Entombment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.Members of the Fraternal Order of Police will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home to conduct memorial services.Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N.
