Robert G. Schawalder
Robert George Schawalder, 61, of Portersville died Saturday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital following an illness.
Born Aug.29, 1947, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Cornelius and Ruth Landon Schawalder.
He was a member of St. Christopher at the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Prospect.
He was a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He worked as a sales representative for Keystone Foam.
Mr. Schawalder was a home airplane builder and served as president for the Experimental Aircraft Association of Grove City.
He was an avid hunter and golfer. He enjoyed hunting with his family, and he belonged to the Friday Night Couples League at Stoughton Acres Golf Course in Butler.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Schawalder, whom he married Dec.15, 1995; two sons, Scott (Kathleen) Schawalder of Glen Mills and Adam (Joy) Schawalder of Portersville; two stepchildren, Renee Altmire and Eric Stutz, both of Butler; three grandchildren, Hunter, Connor, and Claire; and two step-grandchildren, Megan and Brittany. He also is survived by his parents of Portersville; a brother, Paul (Lisa) Schawalder of Wilkins Township; a sister Nancy (Bill) Deffner of Harmony; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a granddaughter.
