Thursday — Donald Lowry reported someone stole Pennsylvania license plate FXX0897 from a vehicle parked in front of his Howard Street home. The theft occurred between Sunday and Thursday.3:28 p.m. Sunday — Vehicles driven by David Ansani, 47, of Butler and Russell Dickey, 53, of Butler Township collided at Hansen Avenue and Pillow Street. Ansani was cited for driving with a suspended license.
Thursday — Police charged four young Butler area men and a girl for allegedly passing counterfeit money at two fast food restaurants in the township and city.Charged with conspiracy to commit forgery are James Daniel Coyle III, 19; William John Heckert III, 19; Nathan Nicholas Saul, 18; Robert Raymond Saul Jr., 21, of Butler; and a 17-year-old girl, whom police did not identify.Additionally, Coyle is charged with forgery, conspiracy to commit theft, and attempted theft; Heckert is charged with forgery and theft; Nathan Saul is charged with conspiracy to commit theft; and Robert Saul is charged with conspiracy to commit theft, attempted theft and driving with a suspended license.6:38 p.m. Saturday — Carrie Lynn Reid, 32, of Butler allegedly swiped a basket of groceries from the Giant Eagle in Moraine Pointe Plaza. Reid left the store with the goods and made off in a getaway car driven by Ronald Glen Lyons Jr., 27, of New Castle.The store manager, however, got the car's license plate number, which helped lead police to the suspects. Reid and Lyons are charged with theft, conspiracy, receiving stolen property and retail theft.6:30 p.m. Jan. 2 — Kathy Burkett, 44, of Butler is accused of shoplifting a television and desktop computer from the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Burkett was with two children, both 12, when she allegedly took the items, valued at $876.Burkett is charged with retail theft and corruption of minors.
7:20 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Jodi Hammond, 40, of New Castle spun out on snow-covered Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township and collided with a car driven by Ron T. Walk, 19, of Wexford. Hammond, who was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.1:45 p.m. Wednesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Lorin M. Patterson, 19, of Kittanning crashed into a ditch, shrubbery and a utility pole along Marwood Road in WinfieldTownship. Patterson, who suffered minor injuries, was cited for a lane violation.7:47 p.m. Monday — A hit-and-run driver in an unidentified dark-colored Ford Expedition struck a car on Watters Station Road in Forward Township and drove off after the crash. Shaun Scheerbaum, 24, of Evans City was driving the car.State Police, New Castle2:15 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Janet Forkey, 78, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Lauri A. Johnson, 44, both of New Castle, collided at Copper and Old Princeton roads in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
