James R. Schumacher
James R. Schumacher, 85, of 608 Moran St., Oil City, went home Friday to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born May 24, 1923, in East Brady, he was the son of Loretta C. Schumacher-Gibson.
He attended East Brady High School where he played quarterback.
Mr. Schumacher was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1949 with a B.S. in Business Administration.
Mr. Schumacher retired from the Social Security Administration.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Lewis and her husband, Robert, of Knox; a son, Robert Schumacher and his wife, Deborah, of Oil City; and a daughter, Marci Schumacher of Oil City; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He also is survived by three sisters-in-law, Rose Schumacher of East Brady, Victoria Pfaff and her husband, Max, of Union City, and Ann Magrini of Clarion; a brother-in-law, Duane Bashline of Clarion; and many nieces and nephews.
He was married June 6, 1949, to the former Elma Magrini, who preceded him in death March 24, 1998. In addition to his parents and wife of 49 years, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Schumacher of East Brady and Frank Gibson of Butler; and three sisters, Rosemary Schumacher of East Brady, Mary Carolyn (Pat) Walker of Butler, and Anita Ann Wimer of Florida.

Schumacher, who died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, will accept visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Morrison Funeral Home</B>, 110 Petroleum St., Oil City.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Brandon Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Stephen School or to the American Heart Association.
