Hazel Irene Snyder, 92, of Miller Avenue, Butler, formerly of Petrolia, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at her home following a period of failing health.

Born Jan. 29, 1916, in Petrolia, she was the daughter of Barney Sidney Shakeley and Ruby May McKinney Shakeley.

She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Community Church, Route 268, Chicora, and as of late was attending the Graceway Church in Butler.

She was a graduate of the Fairview Township/Karns City High School class of 1934.

A homemaker, she married David R. Snyder Sr. on Feb. 9, 1953, in Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death Oct. 29, 1990.

Surviving are two daughters, Sondra Andre and her husband, Harold, of Butler, and Doreen Blystone of Butler; a son, David R. Snyder III and his wife, Darla, of Chicora; a step daughter, Mrs. Margaret Rodgers and her husband, Francis, of Chicora; a step son, Bernard L. Snyder and his wife, Eileene, of Mountain View, Ark; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; 57 step great-grandchildren; 11 step great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding her was a brother, Delbert Shakeley; a sister, Mrs. Margaret McClure; a son-in-law, Kenneth Blystone on Dec. 5, 2004; a step son, William H. Snyder; a step grandson, Jack Snyder; and her first husband, Kermit Hovis.

<B>SNYDER</B> — Friends of Hazel Irene Snyder, who died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home</B> in Petrolia. Additional visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Community Church, Route 268, Chicora.Funeral services will at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Randall Forester, pastor, and the Rev. David West, pastor of the Graceway Church in Butler, officiating.Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
