James A. Bailey Jr., 86, of Adams Township, formerly of Edgeworth, died Monday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital North in Cranberry Township.

Born in Los Angeles, Calif., Nov. 26, 1922, he was the son of the late James A. Sr. and Christine Murray Bailey.

He graduated from Duquesne University with a bachelor of science degree in industrial management and retired as a management representative for Bethlehem Steel Corp. in Leetsdale.

Mr. Bailey was a member of Mars United Presbyterian Church and a former member of St. Andrew's United Presbyterian Church in Sewickley.He served as a technical sergeant with the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a member of the 7th Bomb Squadron, 34th Bombardment Group. He flew 32 bombing missions on a B-17 bomber over Europe.He had been a Mason.Surviving are his wife, Ida Houchins Bailey, whom he married Oct. 10, 1953; a son, James A. Bailey and his wife, Lisa, of Tipp City, Ohio; two daughters, Leslie E. Shaw and her husband, Sam, of Germantown, Tenn., and Virginia McNatt, and her husband, Robert, of Bradford Woods. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Bailey.

<B>BAILEY</B> — Friends of James A. Bailey Jr., who died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars. The Rev. Nathan Esser, pastor, will officiate. Everyone is to meet at the church. Military honors will be conducted at the church after the service. Burial will be in Sewickley Cemetery.Directions and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
