Peggy Valjean Deal Reed, 81, of Evergreen Nursing Home, Harmony, formerly of England Street in Meridian, died at 3:05 p.m. Monday at the Evergreen Nursing Center.

Born Nov. 8, 1927, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late George Shanor Deal and the late Violet Mae Thompson Deal.

Mrs. Reed was a homemaker, but she also had worked for Armstrong MasterTech and Alarm and the Area Agency on Aging as a receptionist.

Mrs. Reed attended the First Baptist Church of Butler.

Mrs. Reed is survived by her two sons, Richard Calvin Reed and his wife, Sharon, of Mount Chestnut and Larry Eugene Reed and his wife, Sherrie, of Butler; two daughters, Mrs. Timothy (Tammy) Worley of Meridian, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Robert E. (Judy) Parks of Butler; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Deal of Butler and Vernon Deal of Butler; and two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Shirley) Shook of Butler, and Mrs. John (Patty) Hoover of Chicora.

Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Eugene Reed, who passed away June 19, 1974; and by four brothers and one sister.

<B>REED</B> — Friends of Peggy Valjean Deal Reed, who died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Maitland of First Baptist Church officiating.
