Larry D. Lyons

Larry D. Lyons, 60, of Silver Brook Drive, Mercer, formerly of the Slippery Rock area, died at 4:17 a.m. Wednesday at UPMC Greenville.

Born in Grove City, Aug. 25, 1948, he was the son of Dolph R. Lyons and Cleora A. (Johnston) Lyons.

He was a 1967 graduate of Slippery Rock High School and worked part time at the Gotham Staple Co. of Harrisville. He formerly worked at Cooper Bessemer of Grove City for 25 years as a machine operator.

Mr. Lyons was a social member of the VFW Post at No. 2 Mine and a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 584 of London, Mercer County.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and horseshoe player. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and also enjoyed old cars.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth A. "Beth" (Weaver) Lyons, whom he married July 24, 1992; a daughter, Amanda J. Priester and her companion, Richard Manning, of Sharon; a son, Robert E. Lyons and his wife, Rebecca, of Florida; six grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne B. Lyons of Grove City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cathy Sue Bair; a grandson, Cody Bair; a brother, Robert M. Lyons; and a sister, Cathy Sue Lyons.

<B>LYONS</B> — Friends of Larry D. Lyons, who died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the <B>Jamison Funeral Home</B>, 117 N. Main St. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry A. Mahaffey of North Liberty Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be at the Slippery Rock Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205-4620.
