PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Maxime Talbot to a two-year contract.
"Max has developed into one of the key players in our organization," general manager Ray Shero said in a statement on the team's Web site on Friday. "He has shown his versatility and plays in all situations for our hockey club."
The 24-year-old has four goals and three assists in 28 games this season.
Last season, Talbot appeared in 63 games, posting career-highs with 26 points and 14 assists, while adding 12 goals and 53 penalty minutes. He scored a late goal to tie Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals at Detroit, which the Penguins won in triple overtime.
Talbot was selected by Pittsburgh in the eighth round, 234th overall, in 2002.
In other moves, the Penguins traded Jonathan Filewich to St. Louis for a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2010.
The 24-year-old forward has two goals and two assists in 19 games this season with Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Filewich was drafted by Pittsburgh in the third round, 70th overall, in 2003. He will report to the Blues' AHL team in Peoria, Ill.
Mike Ramirez, a senior kicker for the Slippery Rock football team, was named to the first-team offense of the Pennsylvania Class AAA All-State High School football team.Ramirez, who also was a member of the Rockets soccer team, booted 11 field goals and added 34 extra points for 67 points, making him the Butler County's 11th leading scorer.

NEW YORK — CC Sabathia will receive $9.5 million from the New York Yankees before he throws his first official pitch in pinstripes.His $161 million, seven-year contract includes a $9 million signing bonus, according to details obtained Friday by The Associated Press. By the time the Yankees open at Baltimore on April 6, he already will have received $6 million of that bonus, plus $3.5 million of next year's salary.
