Elton L. Weitzel, 87, of Butler died at 2:08 p.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 20, 1921, in Butler County, the son of the late Chester Weitzel and the late Nora May (Fleeger) Weitzel.

He was a member of the Unionville Presbyterian Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He loved to bowl.

He had worked for the state as a carpenter.

Surviving are his wife, Martha (Wise) Gilliland Weitzel; three sons and their spouses, Randy and Mary Ann Weitzel of Pittsburgh, Ernest and Lynda Weitzel of Butler, and Brad and Beth Weitzel of Butler; a daughter, Sandy Wright of Butler; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther and her husband, Bob Hunter, of Butler and Gladys Zanicky of Butler; and a brother, Braden Weitzel of Unionville.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Faye (Young) Weitzel, who died Jan. 8, 2001; a sister; and six brothers.

<B>WEITZEL</B> — Memorial services for Elton L. Weitzel, who died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Butler Assembly of God, 105 Purvis Road, Mount Chestnut. Private interment will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.Arrangements are being handled by the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, and information also is available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
