Mr. William Earnest Bartoe, 81, of Warner Robins, Ga., entered this life on Aug. 12, 1927, in Boggsville, Pa., the son of Harvey D. Bartoe and Grace V. Bartoe (Gaiser), both of whom preceded him in death. He was raised in Boggsville and then Fairview, and he graduated from Karns City High School in 1943.

He was a World War II veteran, where he served as a pharmacists mate with the U.S. Navy. He was an active member and chaplin of American Legion Post 218 of Fairview for many years prior to moving to LaBelle, Fla.

He was united in marriage on Sept. 10, 1949, in Petrolia to Imogene L. Bussard. Bill was a faithful servant of the Lord, devoted husband, and a loving father. His family was the center of his life. He always delighted in helping others, and loved and was loved by all who knew him.

Prior to retirement in 1988, he was a faithful employee of 42 years of the Koppers Corp. in Petrolia. He was a faithful member of the St. Peter's Reformed Church of Fairview and most recently the First Christian Church of Warner Robins, Ga.

Bill went on to glory on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at Heartland Hospice in Macon, Ga. Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew him but especially by his loving wife of 59 years, Imogene L. Bartoe; his son, Kevin R. Bartoe and his daughter-in-law, Donna J. Bartoe of Byron, Ga.; his sister, Grace VanDyke of Sarver; his nephews, Jerry Johnston and Dewayne Johnston of Butler; his adopted family, Forest, Yon-Hui, Daniel and Joseph Johnson of Warner Robins, Ga., and several other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Barney of Saxonburg, and Mrs. Pauline Johnston of Butler.
