Monday — Police reported they are investigating the theft of money from an elderly woman's home within the past two weeks. The thief claimed to be from the water company and was allowed inside the home of the 90-year-old woman.The suspect was not dressed in any work uniform and had no work identification. Police did not identify the victim or disclose where she lives.Police reminded residents not to allow unknown persons into their homes. They said utility company employees always have identification with them and their validity can be confirmed by calling the company.2:03 a.m. Sunday — Donald F. Wilkerson, 54, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on West Cunningham Street. Wilkerson's blood-alcohol level was .290 percent, or more than 3Z\x times the legal limit under state law. In addition to DUI, Wilkerson was cited for driving without a license and failing to yield.Sunday — Ahouse on North Chestnut Street and a car on North Church Street were hit with yellow paint balls, apparently overnight.Police investigated and found the front of Larry Walker's home was hit five times, and the car, owned by Pamela Bole of Butler, was struck once on the driver's side.Saturday — Ryan Wisniewski of Oakland Township reported someone stole Pennsylvania license plate EDY2810 off his vehicle parked at the Knights of Columbus on East North Street.Thursday — Police filed a theft by deception charge against Charles John Hamilton, 28, of Butler for writing two bad checks to buy $410 worth of meat Nov. 14. He is accused of writing two checks on a closed account to buy the items from the Pellegrino & Sons Meat Co. of Cambria County, which was making a delivery to another customer.Thursday — Police charged Krystal Krauchak, 20, of Butler for carrying a small electronic stun gun, stemming from a traffic stop Nov. 21 on East New Castle Street. Krauchak is charged with possession of a prohibited offensive weapon, classified under state law a first-degree misdemeanor.
4:30 p.m. Friday — Vehicles driven by Yvonne Jurecka, 40, and John Marten, both of Butler, collided at Whippo and Brown avenues.12:16 p.m. Friday — Avan driven by James Gwynn III, 29, of Bentleyville, Washington County, struck a deer on Route 8 South near the Picklegate bridge.12:59 p.m. Dec. 9 — Jerome Batcher, 44, and Kelli Vernon, 29, both of Saxonburg, were arrested for allegedly shoplifting DVDs from the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. The suspects are charged with retail theft and conspiracy.
5:20 p.m. Monday — Vehicles driven by Robert P. Becker, 26, of Grove City and Jeffrey A. Braun, 54, of Butler collided at Branchton and Harmony roads in Slippery Rock Township.11 p.m. Saturday — Apickup truck driven by Christopher Harpster, 20, of Burnham, Mifflin County, struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Worth Township5:38 p.m. Wednesday — Awork truck driven by Justin Pierce, 20, of Franklin and a car driven Amber Ritson, 23, of Butler collided at Route 68 and Center Drive in Oakland Township. The collision rolled the truck onto a van driven by James D. Asche, 37, of Butler.Ritson suffered minor injuries in the crash. Pierce was cited for failure to yield.Wednesday — An unknown burglar between 9:30 p.m. Dec. 9 and 7:15 a.m. Wednesday forced open a locked freezer outside Friedman's market in Chicora. Apolice report did not indicate if anything was taken.5:30 p.m. Dec. 9 — David Boy Busin, 51, of Saxonburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 68 in Butler Township. In addition to DUI, Busin is charged with careless driving, reckless driving and a lane violation.
10:40 a.m. Monday — Pickup trucks driven by Carl Trauterman, 73, of Oil City and Joseph E. Burkett, 32, of Emlenton collided at Hill City Road and East State Highway in Cranberry Township, Venango County. Trauterman was cited for not stopping at a stop sign.
