Pa. foreclosure rate steady

HARRISBURG — Foreclosure trends in Pennsylvania were worse in November than the nation's, according to new figures released Thursday.

The number of homeowners receiving a foreclosure notice in Pennsylvania stayed almost the same from October to November, the figures from RealtyTrac show.

Nationally, the number dropped 7 percent.

Meanwhile, last month's foreclosure filings in Pennsylvania jumped 54 percent from November 2007, nearly twice the rate of the national increase over the same period, according to RealtyTrac's figures.

'The foreclosure rate in Pennsylvania remains about one-third the national rate, with about one in every 1,372 households receiving a foreclosure filing in November, RealtyTrac said.

Last month, 3,974 properties received a foreclosure filing, compared to 4,005 in October and 2,577 in November 2007.

November was the first month since May where Pennsylvania saw fewer than 4,000 foreclosure filings.

However, the number of properties seized rose to 1,028 in November, up from nearly 1,000 in October and 628 in November 2007.
