Chester R. Jordan
Chester Russell "Bud" Jordan, 91, of School Street, Bruin, passed away at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chicora Medical Center following an illness.
He was born in East Brady Dec. 27, 1916, and was a son of the late Thomas Jordan and Della Curtis Jordan.
He was a member of the Karns City United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed playing, coaching and watching baseball and was inducted into the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame.
He retired from the Koppers Chemical Co. in Petrolia, now Indspec Chemical, in 1978.
He married the former Helen Lucille McElravy on July 3, 1943, in Chicora, and she preceded him in death Nov. 10, 1984.
Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Kathryn I. Puchala and Larry of Pahrump, Nev., and Mary L. Wohlgemuth and James of Hendersonville, N.C.; a son and his wife, Robert E. Jordan and Marilyn of Avon, Ohio; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson, Gavin Glibowski; two sisters, Arlene Safran of Berea, Ohio, and Jane Strandberg of Loudon, Tenn.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death, along with his parents and wife, were one grandson, Bryan T. Jordan on July 26, 2004; four brothers, Thomas "Tucker" Jordan, Raymond Jordan, Ronald Jordan and Loren "Mink" Jordan; and one sister, Mrs. Esther Farrell.
<B>JORDAN</B> — Friends of Chester Russell "Bud" Jordan, who died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home </B>in Petrolia. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Glea Foster, pastor of the Karns City United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
