Bradley Hasek of Middlesex Township received a Ferrous Metallurgy Education Today (FeMET)scholarship from the American Iron and Steel Institute and the Association for Iron and Steel Technology Foundation for the 2008-09 school year. He is a materials science and engineering major at Penn State University.The scholarship is aimed at attracting top talent to the North American steel industry.Hasek will receive $5,000 toward tuition beginning this semester, a paid internship at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge next summer and an additional $5,000 toward his senior year tuition.He is a 2005 graduate of Mars High School and the son of David and Mary Ann Hasek of Middlesex Township.———

Christopher Foringer was recently inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society at the University of Pittsburgh. He is majoring in administration of justice.Foringer is a 2002 graduate of Butler High School and an 82nd Army Airborne Division veteran. He is the son of Patricia Foringer of Butler and the late Charles Foringer.———

Fontaine Graham of Butler is currently serving as vice president of the rodeo club at Wilmington College.Graham is a sophomore majoring in agriculture and is a 2007 graduate of Butler High School.———

Trevor McCance, a student at Clarion University, was recently inducted into the Meta Gamma Sigma Best in Business international honor society.He is the son of William and Gail McCance of Butler. He lives in Knox with his wife, Halee.———

Alison Macomber and

Vincent Smith, both of Butler, were accepted for admission to Saint Vincent College for the fall 2009 semester, according to an announcement by David A. Collins, Assistant Vice President of Admission.Macomber is the daughter of James and Kathleen Macomber and will graduate from Butler High School in June. She is treasurer of National Honor Society, senior class secretary and co-captain of the marching band Sequinettes flag team. She plans to major in international business at Saint Vincent College.Smith is the son of Walter and Gloria Smith and will graduate from Mars High School in June. He is president of the Interact and Spanish Clubs. Smith also was the crew leader of Saint John Bible School. He plans to major in business at Saint Vincent College.
