6:40 p.m. Monday — A Butler man is accused of beating his girlfriend's 3-year-son with a wooden spoon.Officers arrested John Noble Ingram, 25, of 122 Pillow St., after police got an anonymous call about a case of alleged child abuse. Officers found the boy had "numerous" bruises to his back, leg and buttocks, according to a police report.Ingram was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.
10:27 a.m. Tuesday — Two people were hurt when a car driven by Bobbi Jo Nash, 33, of Lyndora and a sport utility vehicle driven by Janice Nearhoof, 57, of Butler collided at Hansen Avenue and Whitestown Road.Lyndora volunteer firefighters had to rescue Nearhoof, who was trapped in the wreckage of her SUV. Both drivers were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Police said Nash faces a ticket for failing to yield the right of way.9:41 a.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Darla Weiss, no age given, of Renfrew crashed into a tree along Meridian Road. Weiss was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
2:25 p.m. Sunday — Cars driven by Richard A. Blose, 17, of Cabot, James P. Barnes, 20, of Freeport and Chad M. Barnhart, 29, of Portersville collided on Route 228 in Winfield Township.Sunday — Alump of coal could be in the offing for an unknown thief who made off with a money bag containing $558 from the Christmas train ride at the Clearview Mall in Center Township.Great Lakes Expositions of Parma,Ohio operates the ride, and believes the theft occurred between 9:15 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
12:45 a.m. Monday — James M. Calligan, 36, of Fenelton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence following a one-vehicle crash on Route 422 near Claypool Road in West Franklin Township.But drunken driving is just one of the charges Calligan faces in connection with the wreck. He is accused of hitting a passenger, Debra Lynn Campbell, 38, during an argument as they rode in the car. Calligan also allegedly threatened to kill the woman.Calligan was arraigned on charges of DUI, terroristic threats, harassment and careless driving, and placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 bail.Monday — An unknown burglar stole an Xbox 360, a Canon digital camera and several pieces of jewelry in a break-in at a Cadogan Road home in North Buffalo Township. The burglary occurred between 4:30 p.m. Saturday and noon Monday.5:57 a.m. Nov. 19 — A car driven by Jason Verret, 26, of Port Arthur, Texas, spun out of control and crashed into a concrete barrier on Route 28 near Horseshoe Drive in South Buffalo Township. Verret was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
