Norman R. "Pap" McMurray, 80, of Cranberry Township died Tuesday at his home.

Born Jan. 4, 1928, in Cecil, he was the son of the late James and Clara (Dumann) McMurray.

Mr. McMurray was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific theater.

He was "Pap" to many student athletes at Seneca Valley through the years. He enjoyed fishing at Nags Head, N.C., and vacationing with his family.

Norman was a member of Teamsters Local 249 and was a driver for Eazor Express for many years.

His best retirement presents were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria "Nan" (Young) McMurray, who he married Aug. 22, 1952; a daughter, Bonnie Bain of Cranberry Township; two sons, Ronald McMurray and his wife, Marianne, of Evans City and Thomas McMurray and his wife, Sharon, of Fombell; three grandchildren, Michael Beres and his wife, Danielle, and Jessica McMurray and Amber Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Richter, Brooks and Eva Beres and Nathan Taylor; three brothers, Charles, James and Robert McMurray; and two sisters, Ruth Douglas and Clare Kress.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Brown.
