Howard L. Barger

Howard L. Barger, formerly of Western Avenue in Brookville and lately of the McKinley Center, passed away Friday.

He was born Dec. 31, 1918, to Joseph A. Barger and Edna McElravy Barger of Karns City.

He married the late Dorothy A. Miller Sept. 7, 1941, in Oakland, Md.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941 and served in the India-Burma theater. After World War II, he remained in the Air Force Reserves and retired after 27 years.

He owned Howard's Photography Studio in Brookville for 20 years and also worked for Clarion University as a photographer.

He is survived by his two sons and one daughter, Thomas Barger of Bradenton, Fla., Ellen Barger of Alexandria, Va., and Michael Barger of Brookville. He also is survived by his brother, Joseph Barger of Gretna, La.; two grandchildren, Carol Thompson of Hunt, N.Y., Scot Barger of Wheeling, W.Va.; and three great-grandchildren.

<B>BARGER </B>— A memorial service for Howard L. Barger, who died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the <B>McKinney funeral home</B>,<B> </B>345 Main St., Brookville.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VFW Post 2145, 603 Liberty St., Clarion, PA 16214. Attention: Soldiers Care Package Fund.
