Harvey L. Scott, 85, of Butler died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at his home after an illness.

He was born March 30, 1923, in New Kensington, the son of the late Lester P. Scott and the late Lucy Fay (Troup) Scott.

He was a veteran of 559th Anti-Aircraft Artillery in U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 0945.

He retired from the Butler School District in the custodial maintenance department.

He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Surviving are his wife, Janet M. (Imwold) Simms Scott, whom he married Aug. 16, 1980; two sons, Harvey Scott and his wife, Becky, of Butler and DeWight Scott and his wife, Debbie, of Robinson Township; two stepdaughters, Darcy Simms and her husband, Karl Hunter, of Coraopolis and Sandra Simms and her husband, William Buckley, of Erie; a stepson, Robert Simms Jr. and his fiancée, Kathy Pearsall, of Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores Patton of Butler; and a brother, Lester Scott of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Avanell (Brown) Scott, and a brother, Chester Scott.

<B>SCOTT</B> — Friends of Harvey L. Scott, who died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, Butler. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
