Joseph 'Joe' Lazar
Joseph "Joe" Lazar, 86, of Scottsdale, Ariz., born near Pittsburgh, passed away Saturday.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Julia; his brother, Steve Lazar; daughter, Sherry Schaffer; son, Garry Lazar (Cathy); daughter, Judy Pergl (Bud); son, Bruce Lazar (Mary); daughter, Maureen McPherson (Martin); son, Jeff Lazar; son, Randy Lazar (Joyce), daughter, Cindy Petersen (Matt); son, Scott Lazar (Angie); and daughter, Kim Martin (Brian); 25 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and many friends and family across the United States.
During World War II, Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army.
He was self-employed most of his life as an auto radiator repairman until the age of 84.
Joe was a lifetime member of the Elk's and a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association for more than 50 years. Joe loved to fly. In the past, he would fly his plane or helicopter on a regular basis. He also loved to bake and cook various Hungarian dishes and pastries.
Joe lived in Pennsylvania for 60 years, but spent the past 25 years in Scottsdale. He was drawn to Arizona by the hot, dry climate.
Joe was a great help and support to his family, friends and neighbors in both Arizona and Pennsylvania. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
<B>LAZAR</B>— A memorial Mass for Joseph "Joe" Lazar, who died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at the St. Kilian Church. Immediately following will be a reception in honor of Joe at the Treesdale Community Center until 9:30 p.m.
