Costa

Elizabeth M. "Betty" Costa, 81, of Penn Township died early Saturday morning at her home.

She was born in Penn Township Nov. 5, 1926, a daughter of the late Frank E. and Margaret Lavery Winters.

She married her husband of 60 years, Frederick J. Costa Sr., Jan. 27, 1943; and they are now reunited together for eternity as he died July 13, 2003. She also was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

She was a graduate of the Butler Beauty School and had worked as a beautician at the former Jean West Beauty Salon in Butler and later was a welder at Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing Co. for 19 years until 1976.

Mrs. Costa was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church in Butler and the Women of the Moose, Butler Chapter.

Surviving are three daughters, Kay Van Laningham and Judith (Raymond) Wise, both of Butler, and Karen (Kent) Beneigh of Riverdale, Ga.; a son, Frederick J. Costa Jr. of Butler; 10 grandchildren, Cindy (William) Schantz, Kimberly Van Laningham, Dale Kelly) Van Laningham Jr., Frederick (Rebecca) Wise and Alvin (Dawn) Wise, all of Butler, Kendra Beneigh of Riverdale, Ga., Jodi Grant of Tallmadge, Ohio, Frederick J. Costa III of Hollywood, Calif., and Dina (Kerry) Rodriquez and David (Karen) Hackett, both of Dallas, Texas; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, James C. Winters of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mother and Grandma, you are loved and will be dearly missed.

<B>COSTA </B>— Family and friends of Elizabeth M. "Betty" Costa, who died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
