Dorothy Marie Hesselgesser Heyl
Dorothy Marie Hesselgesser Heyl, 88, of Slippery Rock died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot.
Born in Boyers, Aug. 5, 1920, she was the daughter of Orzo Allison and Lillie Loretta McMurry Allison.
She married Franklyn "Sid" Humes Heyl on June 10, 1966.
Mrs. Heyl was in charge of the Slippery Rock High School cafeteria for many years and retired in 1967.
She was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church, Slippery Rock.
She enjoyed dancing and was formerly active in the Elks Bowling League in Butler. She also was a former member of the Century Club in Butler.
Surviving are her husband, Franklyn "Sid" H. Heyl; two sons, Gary C. Hesselgesser and his wife, Connie, of New Castle and Dennis J. Hesselgesser and his wife, Paula, of Newark, Ohio; two stepdaughters, June and her husband, Col. James Haney, of Valrico, Fla., and Joyce Linden of Newton, Mass.; a sister, Velma and her husband, George Rouse, of Salem, Ohio; and a brother, Frank Allison and his wife, Janet, of West Middlesex. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charles Hesselgesser; and four brothers, Jay, Raymond, Paul and Clair.
<B>HEYL — </B>Visitation for Dorothy Mari<B>e </B>Hesselgesser Heyl, who died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. The Rev. James E. Boos, interim pastor of Center Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment will be at Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township, Mercer County.Memorial contributions may be made to Center Presbyterian Church, 211 Center St., Slippery Rock.
