1:13 a.m. Tuesday — Cheryl Unverzagt, 43, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence at Penn and North Cliff streets. Police said Unverzagt earlier had been involved in a hit-and-run crash with a parked car on North Monroe Street.In addition to DUI, Unverzagt is charged with accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes and three counts of failing to stop at a stop sign.Tuesday — Michael Paul Jason Chute, 30, of Butler was arrested for allegedly shoplifting items around 6:30 p.m. from Jo-Ann Fabrics and the Family Dollar stores in Pullman Square.Chute is accused of taking about $140 in merchandise, including jewelry, Spiderman pens, a Spiderman coloring book and a Spiderman place mat.Officers found Chute with the stolen items about 7:10 p.m. at Pillow and Cunningham streets, where they stopped a van he was riding in, a police report said.The driver told police she had picked up the defendant to give him a ride, and knew nothing of the stolen property. Chute is charged with two counts of retail theft.

Tuesday — Police filed charges against a pair of suspected burglars in connection with the Oct. 1 break-in at a Bessemer Avenue home in Lyndora.Jeremy Watterson, 25, of Butler Township and Matthew Summerville, 29, of Butler are charged with burglary, conspiracy, theft, receiving stolen property and trespassing.1 p.m. Friday — Christopher Nunez, 22, of Butler was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Oct. 1 and Thursday at her apartment. Nunez was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail.

Tuesday — Police reported that an unknown thief stole a catalytic converter from a vehicle on Hindman Lane in Marion Township. The property, owned by Marci Welton of Grove City, was stolen between May 15 and July 31.1:39 p.m. Sunday — Cars driven by William T. Johnson, 67, of Slippery Rock and Diana Cupec, 26, of New Castle collided on West Park Road in Worth Township. Police said Johnson was cited for failing to yield the right of way.12:22 a.m. Wednesday — Acar driven by Beth Richeson, 28, of Slippery Rock crashed into a concrete barrier at Crestview and Hines roads in Slippery Rock Township.

5:45 a.m. Thursday — Richard S. Norbert, 48, of Rimersburg apparently suffered an unknown medical condition and lost control of a Mack truck, which struck a building housing Myers Tires near Route 68 and Cherry Run Road in Rimersburg.

Monday — A Butler County man was arrested for the June break-in of a Grove City area house. Police said Shane Burns, 23, of Mercer Township busted a kitchen window to get inside the house on Springfield Church Road in Findley Township.The suspect, once inside, destroyed numerous items. Damage was estimated at $2,892.Burns is charged with burglary, trespass and criminal mischief; he is free on $5,000 unsecured bond.
