Jane Rock

Jane Rock, a teacher at Penn Christian Academy, was recently named Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year.Rock received a $1,000 grant for her school, a $100 gift card for school supplies and a certificate.Rock lives in Butler with her husband Robert. She was a substitute teacher while she raised her three children then became a full-time teacher at Penn Christian Academy. She has worked there for four years. She enjoys spending time with her family and staying active in her church.———

Butler County's dairy princess, <B>Abby Flick</B>, was voted Miss Congeniality and was the runner up scrapbook winner at the Pennsylvania Dairy Princess pageant held recently in Harrisburg.She was also awarded the Tina M. Shultz Memorial Award.Flick, 19, completed 471 promotions, reaching 187,527 consumers and traveled 6,422 miles within Butler County, promoting the dairy industry.She is the daughter of Randall and Elizabeth Flick of Fenelton and is a sophomore at Butler County Community College.

<B>Maxwell McCurdy</B> of Butler was recently cast in the role of Paul Brennan in Baldwin-Wallace College's production of Christopher Durang's The Marriage of Bette and Boo, that will run through Sunday in Berea, Ohio.McCurdy is the son of Zane and Mary McCurdy and is a freshman theatre major at Baldwin-Wallace College. He belongs to the Faces for Radio Improv Troupe, Theta Alpha Phi theatre honorary and the College Democrats. He is a 2008 Butler High School graduate.———

Butler Township resident </B>Isabelle Stephens was honored recently in El Dorado, Kan., at a memorial event marking 50 years since a deadly tornado hit there. The twister killed 13, wounding many more and demolishing 200 homes. Stephens was among the injured, defying a medical prognosis of lifelong paralysis.
