Kathleen R. McDowell, 84, of Butler died Friday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born July 4, 1924, in College Point, N.Y., the daughter of Michael and Amelia (Wimmel) Cosgrave.

Mrs. McDowell was a homemaker.

She was a member of the St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church of Butler and a volunteer worker for the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

On May 4, 1946, she married Charles V. McDowell, who died June 31, 1992.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas W. (Barbara) McDowell of Butler and David M. (Judith) McDowell of Lawrence; a sister, Patricia Cosgrave of New York; four grandchildren, Thomas McDowell Jr., Kelly Knetzer, Erik McDowell and Heather McDowell; and two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Evan.

Deceased are a brother, Michael Cosgrave; and two sisters, Alice Petzolt and Claire Orgass.

<B>MCDOWELL</B> — Friends of Kathleen R. McDowell, who died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, were received Monday at the <B>Nation Funeral Home Inc.</B>, McDonald. A blessing service was held at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Walter Sobon, pastor of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, McDonald, officiating. Burial followed in Resurrection Cemetery, Coraopolis.The family suggests memorial donations be sent to American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205-4620; or to a charity of one's choice.
