Dominic P. Bonefeste, 85, of Butler died Sunday at his home.

Born May 21, 1923, in Argentine, he was the son of Natale and Maria Rose Cacia Bonefeste.

He was a retired clerk from the Butler post office, where he was employed for 17 years.

He was also formerly employed at Pullman Standard and Standard Bent Glass.

He was very proud of his Italian heritage.

A founder of the Butler Bocce Association, he introduced many people to the game of bocce.

He loved the outdoors, especially gardening and hunting.

A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army in the 559th Anti-Aircraft Battalion in the European Theater.

He was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Saint Paul Choir and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Ann M. Angiolieri Bonefeste, to whom he was married for 60 years; one daughter, Gina Ann Weiland of Chicora; two sisters, Mrs. Anthony (Catherine) Cipollone of Butler and Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Morando of Butler; three grandsons, Brian S. Weiland of Butler, Travis G. Weiland of Butler and Michael J. Bonefeste, of Butler; a great-grandson, Drake J. Weiland of Butler; and a daughter-in-law Mrs. John (Susan) Bonefeste of Butler.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Gina Rose Bonefeste; a son, John G. Bonefeste; and a brother, Joseph Bonefeste.

<B>BONEFESTE</B> — Friends of Dominic P. Bonefeste, who died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church.Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.Members of the Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Members of Saint Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at the church at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday to recite the Rosary.The family requests memorial donations to the American Red Cross, 312 Mercer St., Butler, PA 16001.Information at www.martinfh.net.
