Carl G. Butler

Butler

Loving father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and husband, Carl G. Butler, 52, of Sawmill Run Road, Butler, passed on early Sunday morning with his family present at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born Aug. 18, 1956, in Butler, he was the son of the late Eddie H. Butler and is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Hilliard Butler.

Mr. Butler was employed by Butler County for 31 years and was the director of facilities and operations.

He graduated from the Butler High School Class of 1974 and Butler County Community College, where he earned an associate's in fine arts. He was active with the former Sigma Lamda Chi at Butler County Community College.

He enjoyed motorcycling, boating, camping, traveling, building projects, card club and spending hours with his family, friends and his pets. He loved to spend as much time as possible at the family camp, which was built by his grandfather in 1928. Also, about a year ago, he took his dream trip to Sturgis with his buddies on their motorcycles. This past June, he took all his immediate family members on a beach vacation.

He was a former member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He served as a board member for Butler County's credit union.

He is survived by his wife, Patty Jo Butler, whom he married Nov. 5, 1994. He has four daughters from his prior marriage, Mrs. Katie L. Decker, Mrs. Steven (Carla) Cox, Mrs. Joshua (Kelly) Christie and Mrs. Joshua (Cassie) Wood. He is also survived by a stepson, Michael Dunmyre of Butler.

He is survived by his mother, two brothers, Mr. Edgar (Carol) H. Butler and Thomas J. Butler, both of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth (Randy) A. Flick of Fenelton; sister-in-laws, Mrs. Vicki (Paul) Semes of Butler and Mrs. Kimberly (Terry) Hickey of Golden, British Columbia; his precious granddaughter, Mackenzie Decker, and a grandson, Landon Christie, and a grandchild on the way. He is also survived by four nieces and three nephews.

Carl was a dear friend, unselfish, considerate of others and always offering a helping hand to those in need. He had a way with words and always had a good story to tell. No matter how hard life was, he always had a sense of humor. So in our father's words this is the "Last call for boots and saddles."
